Good Practices for Online Community Platforms

Our community platform solution has been extensively used as part of various project activities and its functionality and usability have been optimised. This includes the information modules as well as the community module and the open badges ecosystem in order to ensure its transferability and sustainability.

The Web Community Platform makes use of digital dissemination and online demonstration tools as well as conventional marketing materials like leaflets, brochures and fact sheets. The online demonstration functionality allows to provide users with the actual look and feel of potential solutions. Besides social bookmarking features, media syndication tools are used to ensure modern possibilities and to share content for all visitors of the platform. Interlinkages with third party channels and digital interfaces are used to increase reach and raise future awareness to restart with the engagement process in a continuous cycle.

Good Practice and Showcase Presenter

To make the outcomes of the co-creation process available to third parties and the public, a core module of the sharing section is the Good Practice and Showcase Presenter. It presents the good practices and showcases in a structured form based on the provided data by the work groups. It allows the sharing of marketable information to increase the audience’s awareness of the potentials of the projects’ approach. Furthermore, the good practices are provided via an auto-generated catalogue out from the database. The showcase repository contains processes, methodologies, and lessons learned from earlier projects to allow fast and efficient retrieval and management of good practices. Good practices are also presented via so called digital good practice sheets to raise interest among potential future partners and customers and thereby force exploitation activities.

Solution Finder and Demonstrator

This platform module provides a sophisticated Solution Finder to select the derived solutions based on criteria and filter options. Each solution is described by its features and the used approaches. Besides the solutions generated during the co-creation activities, also third-party solutions could be integrated if relevant. A Solution Demonstrator is used to give the visitors and potential future customers the chance to see live demonstrations for selected solutions. The depth of demonstration could lead from simple, slideable screenshots and textual solution description to full demonstration instances with test accounts. The demonstration is used to generate a better understanding of existing solutions as well to keep the platform sustainable after the project and invent channels for future exploitation activities.

Digital Dissemination and Social Sharing Tools

This module compiles Digital Dissemination materials like leaflets, fact sheets, brochures as well as a media and press kit consisting of common descriptions of the project, good practices and showcases. By directly hosting combined dissemination material packages on the web, widespread distribution of those is eased. Users can directly access, order or download desired materials through this section. Press releases are provided throughout the project’s lifetime by the consortium partners and associated parties. Implemented flipbooks are used to make brochures and leaflets readable online. Our Web Platform features several Social Sharing Tools like social bookmarking buttons across the whole instance to share content on third party platforms. Another vital part is the interlinkage with third party sites (including tech platforms, organisation sites and online media). Auto-generated sheets or defined other snippets of information could be automatically or end-user-triggered shared via these interfaces. Furthermore, it ensures easier indexing by search engines in order to be found more easily.
